Interview with Christophe Verot of Robinson les Bains
studiohomme: What is your current look?Christophe Verot: The same look I’ve had since a long time: pair of jeans and a shirt that changes according to my mood and the seasons. At the moment, I have a soft spot for chambray and faded colours.
sh: What are your favourite brands?
CV: J-Crew for the range of shirts that changes every month, Hermes for the quality of fabrics, Bianchi bicycles…
sh: What’s the history behind your brand?
CV: Until 2007, I used to play water polo and I travelled a lot. I could never find the perfect bathing costume that I could use both in the gym and on holiday. What was on offer seemed to be either too sporty or too cliché. I quickly realised that many other men were in my same quandary. I therefore just decided to respond to this demand.
sh: How would you define the Robinson les Bains style?
CV: A mix between modern preppy and retro classic.
sh: How do you see your collections evolving?
CV: This winter we are launching a sportswear collection that can be either for training or worn at home; we are also launching a chic version of pyjamas.
sh: Who do you feel inspired by?
CV: I am not really inspired by people but rather by memories of holidays or by old films.
sh: Which artists do you keep an eye out for at the moment?
CV: Nawel, a Parisian graphic designer. I’m a fan of hers and I would like to do a collaboration with her.
sh: What will you pick from studiohomme?
CV: A pair of tri-colour (blue, white and red) Rivieras loafers that will go perfectly with our upcoming Summer 2011 collection!
